Experience

Research, industry collaboration and technical mentorship.

Doctoral Researcher · TU Delft Department of Transport & Planning

June 2023–present · Transport and Planning

My PhD applies machine learning to urban transportation and city logistics, focusing on forecasting and learning-based operational decisions in shared mobility. I led modelling for the SUM forecasting service and developed the T-STAR and STAMP research frameworks. Ongoing work explores federated spatio-temporal forecasting across competing mobility operators.

Research Assistant · TU Delft

December 2022–June 2023 · Part-time

Researched real-time order dispatching and idle-courier steering for meal-delivery platforms, connecting predicted demand with deep reinforcement learning. The research and my master’s thesis work led to a dual-control framework with iteratively trained dispatching and steering policies.

Research Assistant · Erasmus School of Economics

August 2020–August 2022 · Research internship

Worked on short-term delivery-demand forecasting and dynamic clustering, and co-authored research on aspect-based sentiment analysis. The meal-delivery research collaboration with Takeaway.com continued across 2021–2023, connecting point and distributional forecasts with geographically constrained clustering.

Teaching and supervision

I teach an annual one-week master’s module on reinforcement learning for transportation and logistics and have coordinated a team of teaching assistants.

I have supervised three master’s projects:

  • Sweco and Almelo municipality: reinforcement learning for real-time traffic-signal control.
  • Albert Heijn: unloading-time forecasting to support logistics routing.
  • SUM: reinforcement learning for availability-informed user incentives and fleet rebalancing.

Open source and research community

I co-established and co-maintain the SUM Lab GitHub presence, helping make research outputs accessible. I also contribute journal peer reviews and have co-authored a practical deep-RL tutorial for transport engineers, scheduled for November 2026.
